To ensure your SouSou drinking bottle lasts a long time, we have some important tips for you:

• Rinse the bottle with warm water after each use. This is completely sufficient for daily use. Once or twice a month, you can disinfect the drinking bottle with very hot water over 80 degrees by immersing it for one to two minutes. However, the water should not boil, otherwise germs can be trapped by coagulating protein. Many fungal spores are also very heat-resistant.
  

• Even if stainless steel is quite robust, insulated bottles, in particular, should not be put in the dishwasher. This can impair the insulation effect. Furthermore, water could penetrate into the spaces between layers and mold there.

• For stubborn residues and musty odors, special cleaning tablets for drinking bottles have proven to be excellent. When used correctly, they are odorless, tasteless, and antibacterial.

• Before you reach for household remedies like baking soda, rice, salt, etc., remember that many household remedies rely on a more or less strong mechanical cleaning of your bottle, which could damage the inner walls of your bottle. This could result in potentially harmful substances from the inner wall dissolving and being ingested.

  How do I use the most common household remedies?

  • Baking soda: Baking soda is a proven remedy even for stubborn coffee residues. For cleaning, add one to two sachets or teaspoons with hot water to the bottle and wait. Do not close the bottle during the soaking time. Then rinse thoroughly. In almost all cases, the result is impressive, and bad odors are gone. This method is also suitable for almost all materials.

  • Soda: Often confused with baking soda and can also be used similarly for cleaning glass, stainless steel, and plastic bottles. Soda is not suitable for aluminum bottles.

  • Denture cleaner: Kukident and similar denture cleaning tablets work just as well as conventional cleaning tablets and are suitable for plastic, stainless steel, glass, and aluminum bottles.

  • Dishwasher tablets or powder: Fill the drinking bottle with hot water, wait a few hours, then rinse thoroughly. For aluminum or plastic, do not use brushes due to the salts!

  • Vinegar or citric acid: Both have a germ-killing effect and dissolve many impurities with hot water. In both cases, you create a solution with water and let it soak. Do not use vinegar essence, as many plastic, aluminum, or even glass bottles cannot withstand this treatment and can be damaged!

  • Coarse salt or rice: This is a purely mechanical cleaning, which should only be a last resort, as almost all materials will be affected. If you still want to do it, first add a small amount of rice or salt without water and shake vigorously. Then add some hot water. Wait for some time and shake occasionally.

• After cleaning, always let the bottle dry completely with the lid open to prevent odor formation. You don't need a cloth for this. If you still want to use a cloth, take a new, clean one.
  
  
• Store the bottle with the lid open to prevent moisture build-up and mold.
  
  
• Avoid carbonated or highly acidic drinks (e.g., fruit juices) as they can corrode the material over time.
  
  
• If the bottle gets scratches or dents on the outside, this does not affect its function, but avoid rough sponges or steel wool for cleaning.
